The Coach House at St Dogmaels Abbey

We have plenty of things to see and do here in the beautiful ruins of mediaeval Tironensian (Benedictine) abbey:

  • a museum housing relics from the abbey and telling its story
  • events, craft fairs and mediaeval fun days
  • audio guides to the abbey ruins

The Tironensian Order was founded by Bernard of Tiron, a Benedictine monk, near Chartres, N. France. This was the first of the new religious orders to spread internationally and the Tironensians established abbeys and priories houses throughout France and the British Isles. The first house of the order in Wales was St Dogmaels, Pembrokeshire, which was founded c. 1113. Soon therafter it established two daughter-houses in Pembrokeshire, namely, Pill and Caldey Island Priory.

We also have:

  • a cafe for lunches, light snacks and regular bistro evenings with free wireless internet available
  • a gallery showcasing the best local art
  • a giftshop
  • an IT suite and training room
  • room hire for talks and functions
  • craft and art workshops
  • a weekly local producer's market on Tuesdays
  • information and guides on walking the Pembrokeshire coastal path
